No Kings Day
He was hot, and his thumb was getting sore.
An Ann Arbor Indivisible volunteer logged nearly 7000 marchers at the No Kings rally in Ann Arbor on Saturday, June 14.

More than 6697 marchers!
The thumb count doesn’t include people who brought their kids to the earlier children’s event or stuck around near the Federal Building to listen to the music. But it does confirm what Indivisible members know: thousands of Ann Arbor residents joined the No Kings Day coalition to stand up for democracy. The Ann Arbor marchers were part of one of the largest single-day protests in American history.
The crowds were visible from the air:

The crowd of protesters packed city streets.
On the ground, the determination was fierce. Indivisible members carrying a No Kings banner led the way:

One marshal reported that what they saw in the faces of the marchers was “pride and resolve in being part of a truly mass opposition movement.”
We have been hearing from movement leaders and elected leaders that "We the People" are the last guardrail in defending and preserving democracy. The people stepped up to that role.
The movement gathered young and old alike. You don’t need to be a big kid to realize that America doesn’t have kings:

Small hands used chalk to draw an American flag with the message “No Kings!”
Even Elmo had a message to share:

Protesters wave American flags and carry signs including “Elmo says, D is for Democracy!”
